Tea time snack is something everybody looks forward to. That one tasty snack which goes well with a hot cup of tea makes the day. Methi muthiya is a very popular dish hailing from Gujarat. The snack is a rich source of fibre coming from the methi Leaves and has protein rich besan flour. The muthiyas are usually deep fried or can also be steamed to make them healthier. Here is the recipe of healthy steamed methi muthiya that you can enjoy with your cup of hot tea.
Ingredients:
- Methi (Fenugreek) Leaves (Chopped) – 1 Cup
- Besan Flour – ½ Cup
- Chilli Powder – 1 Tsp
- Turmeric Powder – ¼ Tsp
- Coriander Powder – 2 Tbsp
- Cumin Powder – ¼ Tsp
- Garam Masala – ½ Tsp
- Chaat Masala – ¼ Tsp
- Ajwain (Palm Crushed) – A Pinch
- Hing- A Pinch
- Salt – To taste
- Oil – 1 Tsp
- Curd (For Kneading) – 2 Tbsp
Method:
- In a bowl, add methi leaves, besan and the spices and leave it aside for 15-20 mins. Methi usually leaves some water.
- Now add curd and knead the dough.
- Add little water if necessary. Too much water will make the dough very loose.
- Take a steamer, pour some water and let it boil.
- Meanwhile, make small oval shaped rolls from the dough.
- Take the tray and grease it with oil.
- Place the muthiya on the tray and place it inside the steamer.
- Let it steam for 10-15 minutes.
- Use a knife or fork to check if they are properly cooked before removing.
- Serve hot with green chutney.
Note: If required, can be seasoned with dry roasted sesame seeds.
