Solkadhi is a raw curry or drink, a delicious recipe, consumed widely in Goa, Maharashtra, and especially in the Konkan region. Fresh coconut milk is mixed with tangy Kokam (Garcinia indica) concentrate, and spices such as green chillies, garlic, ginger, salt, and fresh coriander are added to add taste and flavours.
The lovely pink color of this curry usually comes from the skin of fresh kokam. It is a must-try as it is simple and extremely healthy. Not only is it tasty, but it is also packed with health benefits, such as aiding digestion and reducing inflammation. Let us see how one can make Solkadhi.
Ingredients:
- Coconut – 150 ml
- Green chillies – 1-2
- Garlic cloves – 2 in no
- Kokam Aagal – 10 to 15 ml
- Salt – To taste
- Sugar – ½ Teaspoon
- Jeera Powder – ¼ Teaspoon
- Coriander – To garnish
Method:
- Blend the green chillies, garlic, jeera and salt together.
- In a deep bowl add coconut milk, kokum concentrate and the above mixture and mix properly.
- Add some sugar to balance out the flavour, refrigerate for some time.
- Garnish with coriander and serve.
