Pasta is it Healthy? Or Unhealthy? Well, the answer lies in its preparation and the type of pasta is chosen. Pasta is most commonly made from maida or refined flour. Regular consumption of this pasta is good for health and overall well-being. But, currently there are different varieties and healthy options of pasta are available such whole wheat pasta, spinach pasta, beetroot pasta, etc.
Since pasta is completely carbohydrate rich food product combining it with some healthy juicy tomatoes and adding some protein in the form of Chicken / Paneer / Tofu will add protein to the meal.
Ingredients
- Penne Pasta (Cooked) – 1 Bowl
- Olive Oil – 1.5 Tsp
- Salt – To Taste
For Red Sauce
- Tomatoes (Medium) – 4-5 Nos
- Salt – To Taste
- Olive Oil – 1 Tbsp
- Garlic (Chopped) – 1 Tbsp
- Chilli Flakes – 1 Tbsp
- Oregano – 1 Teaspoon
- Parsley – For Garnishing
- Black Pepper Powder – To Taste
*NOTE: CAN ADD TOFU / PANEER / CHICKEN – TO ADD PROTEIN TO THE MEAL
Method:
- Heat the oil in a frying pan, add the garlic and lightly fry.
- Add pureed tomatoes to the pan. Add salt, chilli flakes, oregano, pepper powder and simmer.
- Simmer for 4 minutes. Add the boiled pasta to the boiling sauce and mix.
- You can add a little water if the sauce is too thick.
- Adjust the seasoning if required.
- Add the chopped parsley and lightly toss the pasta.
- Put off the flame and serve hot.
