Fish is a fantastic source of minerals, vitamins, and protein. Pomfret fish is rich in Vitamin D, Vitamin B12, Vitamin A, Protein, Calcium, Phosphorus, Iron, and a variety of other nutrients.
Pomfret is also rich in Omega 3 fatty acids an essential nutrient that our body cannot produce on its own. Omega-3 fatty acids are important to build and maintain healthy body.
It also contains iodine, which is necessary for the thyroid gland to function efficiently. Pomfret is a fantastic brain meal that benefits eyesight, hair, and skin health.
Ingredients
- Pomfret – 1 Medium Size
- Coriander Leaves – 1 Bowl
- Green chilies – 5 to 6 or as per your taste
- Garlic Cloves – 10 to 15 peeled
- Ginger Chopped – 1 Teaspoon
- Lime Juice – 1 Tablespoon
- Turmeric – 1 Teaspoon
- Red Chilli Powder – 1 Teaspoon
- Oil – For Brushing
- Salt – as per taste
- Banana Leaf / Aluminium Foil
Method:
- Clean and gut the fish, but do not chop it into pieces, instead, make two deep cuts
- Combine the salt, turmeric, and red chili powder in a bowl. Smear it all over the fish and set it aside.
- Combine coriander leaves, green chilies, garlic, ginger, and lime juice and grind it into a smooth paste (chutney)
- Marinate the fish thoroughly with the paste
- Brush oil on banana leaf / Aluminium foil and wrap the fish into it
- Boil water in a vessel put a colander on it. Fill the vessel with just enough water to almost reach the bottom of the colander
- Place the fish in the colander and let it steam for 5 – 6 minutes. Ensure that the water is boiling hot.
- Don’t overcook the fish because it’s delicate and will break if it’s overcooked.
- Remove the fish. Place it on the plate and uncover it carefully and it’s ready to serve
